Get Involved

If you have wanted to get involved with theatre at any level, or just want to find out more, it’s easy!

Acting

Every actor starts out with no experience at all, so the best way to get into acting is to give it a go. Keep an eye out on our Auditions page for what’s coming up soon, or send an to our president, Norma. It could be possible to come along to see a rehearsal, help out for a show night, attend a social function, or just come down for a chat. Click here to visit our what’s on page and see information about upcoming auditions.

Behind the Scenes

If you don’t feel like you could be on stage just yet, there is always plenty to do around the place. For a show, we need Stage Managers to organise the actors and change sets or props during shows, as well as assistants for the Stage Manager. There is also Props to borrow, make and organise, and Sets to build and erect, Costumes to source and sew.

Tech

Another important role in each show is Tech. Lighting and sound can create a vast range of emotions, as well as just making sure the action can be seen and heard, or it can be as simple playing a doorbell sound when it is needed. Whether you just run the lights or sound during a show, or go right through from designing a lighting layout, rigging lights, programming the lighting system, recording and mixing or sourcing sounds and running them on the night, the option is yours.

Directing/Producing

Every show needs a Director, and usually new Directors should have had experience on stage, and more importantly Stage Managing or Tech. Any good show should also have a Producer. The Producer is the person who does all the jobs that get the show on the road, leaving the directing to the Director. These jobs include organising publicity and programs; keeping the show to deadlines; coordinating tech, costumes, props, set and much more. Producing can be a rewarding role for an organised person who is good at coordination, and doesn’t want any of that fame rubbish.

Social

Last but not least, don’t forget we are all doing this as a fun, social recreation so we also hold many social functions throughout the year in addition to our many plays and musicals. Come along and just enjoy yourself!

Youth Theatre

The Rep Club Youth Theatre for students aged 8 to 15 runs during term time in the first three terms of each year. We are now taking expressions of interest for Term One 2025.

There will be two classes, junior and senior. The class numbers will be capped at 10 per class and preference will be given to returning students.
